    Ada Solomon is a Romanian producer, founder of Hi Film Productions and Micro Film.

    She has produced over 70 films such as: BAD LUCK BANGING or LOONY PORN (Radu Jude, 2021, Golden Bear Berlin), AFERIM! (Radu Jude, 2015, Silver Bear Berlin) and CHILD’S POSE (Calin Netzer, 2013, Golden Bear Berlin). She has worked with proeminent filmmakers as Ivana Mladenovic, Alexandru Solomon, Razvan Radulescu, Federico Bondi, Adriano Valerio and was executive producer for Maren Ade’s TONI ERDMANN. Executive President of EWA Network, Deputy Chairwoman of EFA, EAVE national coordinator, ACE board member, winner of EFA European Co-production Award – Prix Eurimages.

    Academy Award, BAFTA and Grammy winning director Asif Kapadia is best known for his trilogy of narratively driven, archive constructed documentaries SENNA, AMY & DIEGO MARADONA.

    AMY World Premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, it won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, the BAFTA for Best Documentary, the European Film Award for Best Documentary and a Grammy for Best Music Film. SENNA won BAFTAs for Best Documentary and Best Editing and was nominated for Outstanding British Film of the Year. DIEGO MARADONA premiered at Cannes and Telluride and was nominated for a BAFTA Award. Kapadia’s narrative debut THE WARRIOR won the BAFTA for Outstanding British Film of the Year and the Award for Best Debut Feature. Kapadia directed two episodes of the critically lauded series MINDHUNTER (Netflix) for Producer David Fincher. He was Series Director and Executive Producer of ‘1971:The Year Music Changed Everything’ (AppleTV+) and was Director and Executive Producer of the mental health series ‘The Me You Can’t See’ (AppleTV+).

    Silvina Schnicer was born in Buenos Aires and studied social communication. Ulises Porra Guardiola was born in Barcelona and studied philosophy. The two co-directed the short film LA BICHA (2012), which won the Argentinian Fondo Nacional de las Artes Award. This was followed by their debut feature film TIGRE (2017), which screened at several international film festivals. CARAJITA, the director-duo’s second feature film, world premiered this year at San Sebastian.

    John Durie is a marketing expert with 30+ years experience in the film industry across Europe and works on independent films and documentaries regardless of nationality or language. His expertise is in positioning films and creating the marketing tools and strategy from development stage, through the lifecycle of a film through distribution and festival launch. He has worked extensively in the Nordic region, Netherlands, Switzerland, Hungary and Austria. He has developed and presented film marketing workshops in over 20 countries and created festival strategies for 3 Palme d’Or winning films. He holds a Master’s Degree from Newhouse School of Public Communications (New York) and lives between London and Cannes.

    Anne Delseth studied journalism in Fribourg, Switzerland, also earning a Master’s degree in Cultural Management. From 2008 to 2011, she was first assistant then deputy to the artistic director of the Fribourg Film Festival; in 2011 she worked in international sales at Urban Distribution. Then a member of the Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight selection committee since 2012, she also joined the selection team of the Locarno Festival for the 2018 edition. She directed the HEAD (Geneva) and ECAL Master’s in Film Studies in Lausanne for 7 years and now runs an arthouse cinema. She is also programmer for Angers Film Festival, artistic director of Ulaanbaatar International Film Festival in Mongolia, and consultant for the Neuchâtel Fantastic Film Festival and the Zürich Film Festival, she also is an active member of numerous Swiss cultural management organizations.

  • Peter Dirmeier

    Peter G. Dirmeier works as an actor, presenter and speaker and has been part of the Zurich Film Festival team as a moderator since 2013. 

    From 2008 to 2020 he was also Artistic director of the smallest theatre in Hamburg. After graduating from high school and completing his three-year acting training in Munich, his path first took him across Germany as an actor with stops in Remscheid, Dinslaken, Kassel, Bochum, Hagen, Nuremberg and Duisburg, among other places. He presented "BIM BAM BINO" with Sonja Zietlow for Kabel 1 and the Peter Maffay classic "TABULAGA TIVI" for ZDF.     Baran bo Odar was born in Switzerland in 1978, studied Directing at the University of Television & Film Munich.
    He has worked on several commercials, music videos and award-winning short films.
    His feature debut THE SILENCE (2010) premiered at the Piazza Grande in Locarno and gained him a spot as one of Variety’s Ten Directors to Watch in 2011.
    His next film WHO AM I was a German box office hit. Warner Brothers has closed a deal to remake WHO AM I.
    His first US movie was the action thriller SLEEPLESS starring Jamie Foxx and Michelle Monaghan which was released February 24th 2017.
    Together with Jantje Friese he is the showrunner on the NETFLIX Original Series DARK which was launched Dec 1st 2017 worldwide on Netflix in over 190 countries and is now one of the most watched series on Netflix.
    Currently he is working with Jantje Friese on their next series project 1899 and Tyll for Netflix which will be produced by their production company Dark Ways.

    Born in 1969 in Haifa, the Israeli director Nir Bergman graduated in 1998 with a degree in film from the Sam Spiegel Film and Television School in Jerusalem. His feature-film debut BROKEN WINGS (2002) won several awards. His work on numerous ambitious TV series, including the globally adapted success IN THERAPY (2005) and the ZFF Golden Eye Awardwinning mini-series JUST FOR TODAY (2019), has met with wide-spread critical acclaim. His most recent work HERE WE ARE received the Cannes Label this year.

    After graduating with a degree in Arabic and political sciences, Ben Sharrock turned to filmmaking and enrolled at the Screen Academy Scotland. After creating various international ad film projects and award-winning short films, the director and screenwriter now presents his second featurelength film. Five years after his debut PIKADERO, which won the ZFF Critics’ Award in 2015, he now returns to Zurich with LIMBO, which received the Cannes Label and screened at TIFF (Discovery) and San Sebastián (New Directors).

    Director Sine Plambech’s film HEARTBOUND premiered at TIFF and won the ZFF Golden Eye 2018. Selected for more than 50 international film festivals, the film has won numerous awards, including the main awards at Docville; Dublin and Budapest International Film Festivals. The film is co-directed with Janus Metz (Armadillo 2010; Borg/McEnroe 2016). Sine Plambech is also behind Love on Delivery (2008) with Janus Metz, Ticket to Paradise (2008) with Janus Metz, Trafficking (2010) and Becky's Journey (2014). Plambech is an anthropologist documenting her work on international migration, sex work and human trafficking. She is currently a Visiting Professor at Yale University and Senior Researcher at the Danish Institute for International Studies in Copenhagen.

    Karim Aïnouz is an award-winning filmmaker, screenwriter and visual artist. He debuted as a director in MADAME SATÃ (Cannes Un Certain Regard 2002). His other works include NARDJES A. (Berlin Panorama 2020), CENTRAL AIRPORT THF (Berlin Amnesty Prize 2018), FUTURO BEACH (Berlin Competition 2014), THE SILVER CLIFF (Cannes Directors Fortnight 2011), and LOVE FOR SALE (Venice Horizons 2006). THE INVISIBLE LIFE OF EURÍDICE GUSMÃO, Aïnouz's latest feature, won the Un Certain Regard Prize at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival. Aïnouz is a screenwriter tutor and member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.

    Born in Zurich in 1961, Stefan Haupt has worked as a freelance feature and documentary filmmaker since 1989. His work ELISABETH KÜBLERROSS (2003) is one of the most successful Swiss documentary films to date. His 2014 docufiction DER KREIS garnered both the Audience Award in the Berlinale’s Panorama section and a Teddy Award, before going on to become a global Netflix hit. His last work ZWINGLI (2019) was a Swiss box-office hit. ZÜRCHER TAGEBUCH is his most recent work.

    Born in Warsaw, Poland in 1948, Agnieszka Holland graduated from the FAMU Film School in Prague and began her career assisting Krzysztof Zanussi and Andrzej Wajda. She collaborated with Krzysztof Kieslowski on the screenplay of his trilogy, THREE COLORS. Her film Gorączka screened in Competition at the Berlinale in 1981, the year in which she emigrated to Paris. Since then she has made over 30 films, winning awards including the Golden Globe and Silver Berlin Bear, and being nominated for a BAFTA and an Emmy. Her films IN DARKNESS, EUROPA EUROPA and BITTERE ERNTE (Angry Harvest) were all nominated for an Academy Award®.

    DAVID SANDREUTER was born in London to Swiss parents. He has spent his childhood e.g. in India and the USA, graduated from high school in Germany, studied fine arts in Scotland and then screenwriting in Denmark at the renowned Danish Film Academy under Mogens Rukov ("Festen"). He lives in Copenhagen and writes both films and television series, mainly in Denmark, but also in Germany and Switzerland. His debut feature film MAX PINLIG AUF ROSKILDE was a success with Danish audiences and critics alike. Most recently, he wrote a 24-part Christmas series for the Danish station DR, while his two-part PRIVATE BANKING (directed by Bettina Oberli) ran on SRF1 and ARTE. He is currently writing a TATORT (ARD) and developing a few feature films.

    After studying literature and graduating from Sciences Po University in Paris, Fanny became an actress on stage for several years. It was in acting that she acquired her taste to write.

    Since 2007, she has co-written several drama and comedy shows – including THE ROOKIES (“Les Bleus”, M6), DESPERATE PARENTS (“Fais pas ci fais pas ça”, France 2), ODYSSEUS (Arte), A FRENCH VILLAGE (« Un Village français » France 3) and KABOUL KITCHEN (Canal+).

    She is currently the creator and showrunner of CALL MY AGENT! (“Dix pour cent », France 2 and Netflix) a 6x52’ comedy that depicts life at a prestigious actors’ agency in Paris, which was awarded the 2016 Prizes for Best Series and Best Screenplay by the French Association of TV Series Critics (ACS), the 2018 and 2019 Globe de Cristal Award for Best Series, and the 2018 Prize for Best Series at the Festival de La Rochelle.

    He started out as a visual artist and evolved his career later into filmmaking by pursuing an education at the Danish National Film School, which he graduated from in 2013 with the award-winning short A Painter. Pálmason‘s feature debut WINTER BROTHERS world premiered in the main competition of the Locarno Film Festival in 2017, where it won 4 awards. Since then it has been sold to over 20 territories and continued its festival success, winning over 30 awards. A WHITE, WHITE DAY  is his second feature film.

    Lulu Wang is a classical pianist turned filmmaker. Her second feature THE FAREWELL, starring Awkwafina, premiered at Sundance 2019 in U.S. Dramatic Competition. She was listed by Variety as one of Ten Directors To Watch in 2019. 

    Born in Beijing, raised in Miami and educated in Boston, Lulu is a recipient of the Chaz and Roger Ebert Directing Fellowship, which was awarded at the 2014 Film Independent Spirit Awards. Her first feature film, POSTHUMOUS, starring Jack Huston and Brit Marling was released by The Orchard. She is also a 2014 Film Independent Project Involve Directing Fellow and a 2017 Sundance Fellow invited to participate in the FilmTwo Initiative for second time feature filmmakers.

    Born in 1976 in Bonn, Germany. After training, among other things, in alternative medicine, travelling and various jobs including that of event manager and artistic assistant to Prof. Marcel Odenbach, from 2004 to 2010 he studied at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne. Since 2011, he has worked as a director and artist as well as being the main carer of his three children. Alongside film projects for ZDF and ARTE, he has also made commercials for companies including Neon and Netcologne and has directed music videos and contributions to art exhibitions.
