10th Film Music Competition 2022

Once a year the Zurich Film Festival and the Tonhalle-Gesellschaft Zürich AG collaborate with the Forum Filmmusik to present the International Film Music Competition.

The springboard for talented film music composers from around the globe, this year’s International Film Music Competition required participants to score the award-winning short film THE FOUNDLING by Barney Cokeliss. He was joined by filmmaker Pernille Fischer, film composer Marcel Vaid and conductor Frank Strobel on this year's jury, which was chaired by the English Oscar-winning film composer Rachel Portman.

The compositions of the three finalists, Robert IJserinkhuijsen (The Netherlands), Nicolò Braghiroli (Italy) and Elliot Murphy (Ireland) were premiered at the Tonhalle Zürich during the Zurich Film Festival on September 29, 2022 by the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich under the musical direction of Frank Strobel and in the presence of the nominees. On the same evening, Robert IJserinkhuijsen received the Golden Eye Award for “Best International Film Music 2022”, an award endowed with a 10’000 Swiss franc cash prize.
