10th Film Music Competition 2022

Once a year the Zurich Film Festival and the Tonhalle-Gesellschaft Zürich AG collaborate with the Forum Filmmusik to present the International Film Music Competition.

The springboard for talented film music composers from around the globe, this year’s International Film Music Competition requires participants to score the award-winning short film THE FOUNDLING by Barney Cokeliss. He is joined by filmmaker Pernille Fischer, film composer Marcel Vaid and conductor Frank Strobel on this year's jury, which is chaired by the English Oscar-winning film composer Rachel Portman.

The jury has now selected its three finalists, whose compositions will be premiered at the Tonhalle Zürich during the Zurich Film Festival on September 29, 2022 by the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich under the musical direction of Frank Strobel and in the presence of the nominees. Afterwards, a winner will be chosen who will receive the Golden Eye Award for “Best International Film Music 2022”, an award endowed with a 10’000 Swiss franc cash prize.

This year's finalists are: Robert IJserinkhuijsen (The Netherlands), Nicolò Braghiroli (Italy) und Elliot Murphy (Ireland).
